26/05/10

Today we were told we had to plan a piece or writing about a bit of either of the people we have interviewed's life and we had to do it in the style of recording that we had chosen. I picked books so I have to write an extract from a book which I have to write in this afternoon’s lesson so at the end of the day i can say to the class what I have done so far. I will do the extract about mrs selwood and how her life would have been during the second world war. I will write about what they had to do and what life was like during the war.

19/05/10 interview with mr. and mrs. selwood

Today we had to interview Mrs. Selwood while the other group interviewed Mr. Selwood. We were put into small groups so that we could ask more questions. I think unlike the other interview with Mr.Harris we asked questions that flowed well and we appropriate without repeating questions like last time. I asked about 5 or 6 questions in the 45 minuet long interview. One was "after the war was it difficult to get back to normal life" and one follow up question witch was "when your father returned from India did he tell you stories of what he did" I think the interview went well.

observing ourselves

Today we went to the red family area and we watched ourselves interview tom Harris so that we could see what we do from another view so that we can evaluate ourselves to see areas that we could improve on. After watching it I thought that at the start I looked everywhere but during the interview I would look at the piece of paper in front of me for long periods of time and when I did ask a question I did not maintain eye contact with him so to improve for the next interview I should ask more questions and generally be more confidant also I should try to maintain eye contact with the interviewee. One think I did well was that I took down alot of notes although the interview was being recorded I can easily get the information to my blog without needing to remember it.

Interview with tom harris

Today we interview Tom Harris. He came in and we all sat in a circle and asked him questions about his life but mostly about his career in the RAF. We recorded the interview so that next week we can watch it and examine ourselves and improve our interviewing skills. I think we asked alot of questions and found out alot of the information that the library wanted to know however the questions we asked were random. I asked him if he kept in contact with his friends in the RAF. He said that because he spent so long with them he easily made friends with them. At the end we took a picture of him with all of us.
